Apterous is a death metal band from Groningen, the Netherlands. The band's name was chosen due to Akercocke's song "My Apterous Angel." We started out in 2007 as a few friends making heavy music, and our band has been growing steadily ever since.

We are mainly influenced by the good old talents of bands such as Morbid Angel, Deicide, Dismember, Bolt Thrower, Immolation, Death, and similar bands.

We've also done some gigs spread over 2009 and 2012 in Groningen, and hope to continue to do so. We've also released our first actual demo, titled Submit to Terror, in June 2012.
